PIVOT Agency Grows Brand Capabilities with Power-Hire, Andy Silver

WALNUT CREEK, CA – PIVOT Agency proudly announces the hiring of Andy Silver, a twenty-year brand marketing vet, as a key component to its expansion in marketing capabilities and client servicing.

“We took our time when searching for the right person to bring in to serve as the Executive Vice President of Brands,” said PIVOT Founder and CEO, Ben Shapiro. “Andy is going to bring our client offerings to another level with his twenty-plus years of marketing experience. In addition, he is going to bring a lot to the table for PIVOT with his experience building an agency from the ground up. It’s a huge hire for PIVOT and it’s one I’m extremely confident in.”

Silver, a former attorney turned marketing professional, brings with him experience in sports and entertainment marketing leading partnership execution for brands such as Allstate Insurance, MillerCoors, T-Mobile, Kimberly Clark, McDonald’s, Visa and Papa Johns.

Silver’s robust experience includes fourteen years as a Vice President of Consulting at IMG followed by over three years as a Senior Vice President at Genesco Sports Enterprises. Silver also served as the Vice President of Corporate and Olympic Consulting and Legal Affairs at Disson Furst and Partners and worked at the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, CO.  Silver is joining Becky Murdy, the east coast Vice President of Brands, giving PIVOT coast to coast brand representation.

PIVOT’s current brand mission and future expansion vision centers on offering clients a 360-degree marketing-servicing suite without carrying unnecessary overhead or services that come with aligning with larger agencies.

“The opportunity to continue to grow Pivot’s brand marketing business to drive client success is exciting to me,” Silver says.I want to apply creative, strategic and administrative best practices from the great brands and agencies that I’ve worked with in my past to create something unique at PIVOT.”

As sports and entertainment partnerships become more complex, integrated and data-driven, one of PIVOT’s top priorities is serving as a thought leader for its current and future clients, giving brands the upper hand during every negotiation, extension and renewal.

“My focus will be to provide the highest standard of data-driven intellectual capital and creative activation at an economical fee,” Silver said. “I want to do this in the most client friendly and accessible manner possible.”

As consumer facing tactics are often created during brainstorming and strategy sessions, Silver’s legal background provides PIVOT’s clients with an edge in partnership negotiation and ideation.  With Silver in the room, brands will know, in real time, what can and can’t be executed based off of league and team rules and/or contractual restrictions.

“I think and hope I am multifaceted and my skills will cover a lot of ground – but, if there is one thing that I’m known for, it is a unique blend of marketing and legal expertise that has allowed me to be materially involved in some of the largest deals in sports over the past twenty-five years,” Silver said. “From the T-Mobile Arena, to the Hard Rock Stadium, to the Allstate Net Program, to the Allstate Sugar Bowl and multiple Olympic programs, I’ve been able to view these opportunities with both a marketing and legal lens and have enjoyed adding value to my clients on both fronts.”

The future of sponsorship is constantly evolving and the pressure on brands and their agencies to be more innovative and the pressure on properties to prove a measurably greater return on investment is shifting the industry. The hiring of Silver will continue to position PIVOT as a resource to brands that believe sponsorship is intimidating or complex. From strategy to negotiation to experiential, the PIVOT team has the experience required for efficient planning and execution.

Neither sponsorship, entertainment nor sports is a means to an end,” explained Silver. “Too many sponsors and their agencies are quick to forge sports partnerships without clearly articulating goals or understanding the end game. Utilizing sponsorship, to reach a  demographic target, exposing that target to a relevant, meaningful and memorable brand story, and measuring the impact of that story is how we make sponsorship successful.”  Under that scenario, sponsorship is the perfect conduit for brand marketing, engagement and inspiring consumer action.”

Silver, who currently resides in Chicago, is joining PIVOT at its headquarters in Walnut Creek, California.
