Director, Corporate Partnerships

Naming Rights Corporate Partnerships Sports Marketing

PIVOT is a Bay Area sports and entertainment agency making a name for itself in a fast-paced and dynamic industry. Our mission is to create innovative business-to-business opportunities and to unite brands and properties in lasting partnerships that channel the emotional energy of sports into profitable and meaningful consumer engagement. 

We are looking for a qualified and self-motivated individual to join our Property Sales Team as a Director, Corporate Partnerships.  The candidate will be a leading member of PIVOT’s Property Team, working with arenas, teams and athletes to source, negotiate and secure sponsorship agreements. This individual will be working closely with our growing group of professional sports, university, esports, and naming rights properties, including the San Jose Sharks, San Jose State University, Athletes Unlimited, SailGP, FaceIt and more.   This person will play a key role in our growing property representation business and will have experience closing seven figure partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new business sponsorship sales for a growing list of PIVOT property clients, including SailGP, Athletes Unlimited, PPA and additional esports properties PIVOT represents
  • Leverage existing book of business and national corporate relationships to drive incremental revenue opportunities on behalf of PIVOT clients
  • Ability to ideate and develop innovative integrated media partnerships to meet client brand goals and objectives
  • Cross-sell clients across multiple PIVOT services – property, brand, hospitality, etc.
  • Lead sales presentations to perspective clients, including both in-person and phone calls
  • Lead outbound sales efforts to effectively create and cultivate opportunities for property clients
  • Effectively manage ones own book of business, including prospecting focus, time management and sales pipeline
  • Ability to provide detailed reporting of sales pipeline and activity to both internal senior leadership and external property clients
  • Provide regular progress reports on business development goals and new business outreach
  • Help lead ideation and strategy sessions with the Property Sales and Brand Representation teams
  • Assist the PIVOT executive staff on special projects as requested

Job Performance Evaluation

  • Consistently meets and exceeds individual revenue goals on behalf of property clients
  • Daily sales activity, including new prospective client outreach, client meetings, proposals, etc.
  • Effectively communicates to senior leadership on sales outreach activity and individual revenue pipeline projections
  • Acts in best interest of company objectives and works well with fellow team members and senior leadership
  • Uses sound judgment in representing the company’s values and objectives inside and outside of the office

Qualifications

    • BA/BS in Business, Sports Management, Marketing or other related disciplines
    • 5-7+ years of experience in sponsorship sales, marketing and business development
    • Expert knowledge and understanding of the sports sponsorship landscape
    • Existing book of business and industry relationships
    • Leader who can energize people and teams, and drive cross-functional team collaboration
    • An appropriate level of drive and toughness to effectively manage multiple demanding critical projects in a fast-paced, technical environment, and rapidly evolving industry
    • Firm grasp of available networking platforms within the sports management industry
    • Advanced negotiation skills
    • Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills
    • Acute attention to detail, organization and efficiency
    • Experience using MS Office, Salesforce and Google Suite

Director, Gaming & Esports

Esports Gaming Business Development Sponsorship

Our mission is to create innovative business-to-business opportunities and to unite brands and properties in lasting partnerships that channel the emotional energy of sports into profitable and meaningful consumer engagement.  As early entrants into the exploding esports space, PIVOT is now looking to grow its team that develops partnerships on behalf of a portfolio of leading esports properties.

The DIRECTOR – GAMING & ESPORTS is responsible for being a leading member of PIVOT’s esports and gaming group. Our ideal candidate is business savvy and has a strong understanding of sponsorship sales, specifically within esports and gaming. This person will serve as an authority on esports, providing insights to the greater team, and sourcing and negotiating a range of agreements from small to large scale corporate partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Use combination of existing book of business and new business development efforts to close partnerships and drive revenue for our property clients
  • Create compelling and authentic partnership proposals leveraging client assets to properly meet and exceed brand goals
  • Be able to understand and sell across a multiple of esports and gaming clients, including organizations, teams, platforms, tournaments and influencer networks
  • Serve as point of contact for current clients while identifying future esports and gaming opportunities
  • Serve as the expert on esports, leaning on deep knowledge of inner-workings and best practices from esports leagues and traditional sports leagues and reflecting emerging trends to create thoughtful growth strategies
  • Identify new near- and long-term business opportunities and potential revenue streams. Lead all aspects of the deal from prospecting and sourcing through negotiation and close
  • Work in conjunction with PIVOT executive team to provide strategic insight and growth opportunities related to esports and gaming
  • Use data and analytics to provide best in class insights to our clients, potential brand potentials, and sales pitches
  • Research property and brand clients with the aim of gathering statistical information to better qualify and present to potential sponsors
  • Work cross functionally at PIVOT to expose brands to other services available
  • Lead sales presentations to prospective clients, both in person and via phone
  • Facilitate the relationship growth and ongoing communication between properties and sponsors
  • Individual must have a strong focus on sales process and how to negotiate an esports opportunity

Qualifications

  • Min of 2-5+ years of experience in an esports related position or competitive gaming
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of esports from both a competitive and business perspective
