Pro Cheer League Nears Championship in Historic Inaugural Season

March 17, 2026

Fresh off recent coverage in Sports Business Journal, Varsity Spirit’s Pro Cheer League (PCL) continues to build momentum as it approaches the championship of its inaugural season.

The first-of-its-kind professional league for cheer athletes age 18 and older features four teams based in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, and San Diego, with the championship set for March 27 in Nashville. Since launching in January, the PCL has quickly gained traction across media, sponsorship, and fan engagement.

Backed by Varsity Spirit and parent company Varsity Brands — acquired by KKR in a $4.25 billion deal — the league has secured a multi-year broadcast partnership with ION, bringing matches to national television, with additional distribution and content development underway.

On the commercial side, the league is working with PIVOT Agency to build its sponsorship portfolio, already securing partners including European Wax Center, Curve AI, and EZ Flex Sport Mats, with continued growth expected heading into Season 2.

Early indicators show strong fan demand, with sellout crowds, high engagement at live events, and growing interest from both brands and media partners. With a foundation built on media rights, sponsorship, ticket sales, and merchandise, the Pro Cheer League is positioned for continued expansion.

As the league looks ahead, plans are already underway to grow the number of teams, expand the schedule, and further elevate the fan experience — setting a new standard for what professional cheer can become.
